Our actions and behaviors portray the credibility of our education and professionalism as nurses. What we say, what we wear, and how we interact with patients, families, and coworkers must always be high on our minds in order for us to reflect a professional and positive nursing image.
By having staff practice the following four steps from beginning to end of each shift, they can individually improve the nursing image:
- Introduce yourself with your name and professional title to every patient
- Follow the standards of care
- Embrace evidence-based practice introduced by management
- Work collaboratively
